Lenoir County Shrine Club conducted their 14th Pheasant Hunt on February 6, 2021. Noble Buddy Gates has chaired and spearheaded this event from its conception and has it down to a science, from the early morning breakfast preparations that started at 4am to the beef stew lunches, to registering this year’s 320 hunters. There were two morning and two afternoon hunts. There were some special guests this year from Georgetown, South Carolina. It was the Outdoor Dream Foundation, that brought 4 children who have cancer, and the foundation takes them all over the county to hunting and fishing events. The group also has a lot of Shrine patients they help. This year’s event netted approximately $13,000 profit. As with everything else, Covid 19 affected the attendance, advertisements suffered, and the costs of the birds was more. Noble Jerry Eubanks, Club President has nothing but praise for the entire working team of Shriner’s, ladies, and the support of the community for this event.
