Wiley T. “Tim” Hinnant was born and raised in Wilson, NC. He graduated from Fike High School in 1975 and went on to attend Atlantic Christian College, where he studied from 1975 to 1979. In 1993, Tim and his family moved to the Outer Banks where he began working in sales with Sears before starting his career with UPS in 1995. He dedicated nearly three decades of service to UPS before retiring in 2024.
Tim devoted much of his time to the community, volunteering as a girls’ softball coach with Dare County Schools and Dare County Parks and Recreation for over 20 years. His passion for mentoring and teaching young athletes left a lasting impact on the lives of countless players and families in the area.
Tim began his Masonic journey when he was raised a Master Mason on October 4, 1993. He crossed the Hot Sands in Rocky Mount, NC in May 1994 and joined the Scottish Rite that same month. He became a member of the Dare County Shrine Club in May 1994 and has served in several leadership roles, including club president in 1999 and as club secretary. He has also served as director of the Dare County Beach Bums and served as chaplain of Manteo Lodge #521. In addition, he has been honored to serve as chaplain of Sudan Shriners in 2015 for Potentate Jerry R. Tillett and again in 2018 for Potentate Teeny Jones.
Tim has been happily married to Amy Combs Hinnant for 38 years. Together they have three children: Lane Hinnant, Breanne Wright, and Sammy Jo Saraceni. He treasures time spent with his wife, children, seven grandchildren and extended family. In his free time, Tim enjoys cooking and entertaining with Amy and cherishes every opportunity to be surrounded by those he loves.
Tim is grateful for the opportunity to serve Sudan Shriners and considers it a true privilege to contribute to the great work of assisting children through Shriners Children’s. He looks forward to continuing his dedication to the fraternity, his community, and the noble mission of the Shriners.
