Noble Daniel Timothy Hilburn was born in Whiteville, NC on June 10, 1969. He is the son of the late Clyde Hilburn, Jr. and wife Nancy M. Sigmon of Lake Waccamaw, NC and Connie Marlowe Adams and husband Dr. James B. Adams of Southport, NC. Daniel married Amanda Dale on June 4, 2020. They have four children, Samuel Norris and wife Natalie, Luke, Carter, and Kelsie Watts and two grandsons Grayson and Brooks Norris.
He graduated from Hallsboro High School in 1987 and joined the United States Army on January 14, 1988. as a Military Policeman. Noble Daniel was honorably discharged on January 14, 1992. He received the Army Commendation Medal, three Army Achievement Medals, a Joint Service Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Ribbon.
After returning home in January 1992, he entered basic law enforcement training at Southeastern Community College and was employed by the Chadbourn Police Department. In 1993 he applied for and was accepted into the North Carolina Highway Patrol’s 91st Basic School graduating on May 6, 1994. He was initially assigned to the Fayetteville, NC area. He was stationed throughout eastern North Carolina and was promoted to Sergeant in 2009 and assigned to supervise patrolmen in five different counties for the next six years. In 2015 he was promoted to First Sergeant of the Inspections Unit and transferred to Patrol Headquarters in Raleigh, NC where he remained until his retirement on June 1, 2017. He was presented the State of North Carolina Meritorious Service Award for his service in rescue and recovery efforts from Hurricane Matthew in 2016. Daniel served over thirty years of service in law enforcement and upon his retirement was presented the State of North Carolina’s highest award for service “The Order of the Long Leaf Pine.” He has served as the Mayor of Lake Waccamaw for eight years and a member on the board of commissioners for seven years.
Noble Hilburn was raised to the sublimed Degree of Master Mason on January 7, 2009, at Lebanon Lodge #207, AF&AM, in Whiteville, NC and served as the Chaplain. He crossed the hot sands that same month in New Bern and became a member of the Columbus County Shrine Club. He has served on the Shrine Club board of directors and building committee for several years and as the secretary in 2015 and 2016, and President in 2017. Daniel received the Columbus County Shrine Clubs “Billy Cribb” Shriner of the Year Award in 2016. He is a life member of Shriners International, Sudan Shriners, and the Columbus County Shrine Club.
He has served as Sudan Chaplain 2021 and 2022. He was appointed as the Children’s Activities Director in 2023. Daniel completed the Shriners International Education programs for Membership and Marketing for 2020,2021 and 2022.
Noble Hilburn is very humbled and honored to his appointment as the Outer Guard and gives all the praise and glory to God. He looks forward to meeting everyone and visiting clubs and units.
