Noble Christopher C. “Chris” Boykin was born April 23, 1967 in Wilson, NC to Sandra H. Boykin and the late L. Carl Boykin. Chris grew up in Sims, NC, graduated from James B. Hunt Jr. High School in 1985. He attended Wilson Community College and graduated in 1987 with an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice. He began his quest of becoming a law enforcement officer by being hired as a Wilson County Emergency Communications dispatcher in October of 1987. On June 1, 1988, he entered the Basic Law Enforcement Training at Wilson Community College. He graduated in August 1988 and started work at the Wilson County Sheriff’s Department. Chris served the Wilson County Sheriff's Office in many capacities rising to the rank of Major, then worked at the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office. In 2015 he retired from law enforcement with 27 years. Chris remains a Reserve Deputy Sheriff with the Johnston County Sheriff's Office. He has served on the Wilson and Johnston County Juvenile Crime Prevention Councils as well as many other civic and state boards.
Noble Chris started his masonic journey being raised to the sublimed degree of a Master Mason on June 1, 1992 at Mount Lebanon Lodge #117 in Wilson and served as Master of the lodge in 1997. Noble Chris is a member of the Mount Lebanon York Rite Bodies and served as High Priest of Mount Lebanon Chapter No. 27 Royal Arch Masons in 1997, Illustrious Master of Mount Lebanon Council No.13 Royal and Select Masters in 1997 & 2002 and Eminent Commander of Mount Lebanon Commandery No.7 Knights Templar in 1998. Noble Chris is a member of the Knights of the York Cross of Honour (KYCH). Chris is a member of St. Johns of Jerusalem Council No. 7 Allied Masonic Degrees and has served as its Sovereign Master. In May of 1994 he crossed the Sudan “Hot Sands” in Rocky Mount, NC and shortly thereafter joined the Wilson County Shrine Club. Chris held many offices in the Wilson County Shrine Club and served as its president in 2001. He is a charter member of the Sudan Monster Trucks and has served as Secretary of the Unit. He is also a member of the Wilson County Horse Patrol parade unit. Noble Chris became a member of New Bern Court #145 Royal Order of Jesters on October 12, 2002 and was appointed in 2016 by Director Phil Capps as an officer of the court.
Noble Chris married former Lou Ann Upchurch in August of 1989. They reside at 6510 Old Davis Road Sims, NC. Lou Ann and Chris enjoy traveling to their favorite vacation spot, Walt Disney World. He also enjoys catering part time with Parker's Barbecue in Wilson.
Noble Chris considers it an honor and is humbled by the appointment to the Divan of Sudan Shriners. He looks forward to working with the greatest philanthropy in the world and contributing to the great cause of supporting the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
