The Thunderbolts were created in 1975 and for the past 30+ years, the Thunderbolts have entertained thousands of parade viewers, young and old, with their precision driving and rapidly changing formations.  The twelve custom designed mini-racers have molded fiberglass bodies mounted on modified go-cart frames.  Measuring 7’ long and 40” wide, a 5-hp engine powers the cars.  In addition to the twelve cars, there are two wreckers (modified golf carts) that perform numerous functions in addition to the unpleasant task of towing a disabled car.  The Thunderbolts have won numerous 1st Place awards competing with Units from Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
