The Unit was formed in 1991 as Sudan Mourners of Arapahoe, NC.  Primarily a marching unit, consisting of a horse-drawn hearse, New Orleans funeral style, including appropriate music.  Through the years the unit has maintained 16 to 20 Nobles.  Yearly parades include both Shrine Ceremonials and local community parades for a total of 16 parades.  The Unit is also available for funerals.  In March of 2000 the Unit purchased a mule.  Her name is “Juanita”.  She has been a great addition.
