The Sudan Desert Rats were established in 1997.  Their home is the Pitt County Shrine Club.  Today the Desert Rats consist of 21 members, 14 Jeeps – each individually owned, 2 recovery vehicles, 2 – 16’ Trailers along with a tractor/trailer truck with a 48 foot trailer.  The Rats have won many awards at SASA.  The Desert Rats perform in various civic parades and contribute annually to the Hospital and Transportation Fund.
