March 18, 2020
To the Nobles and Ladies of Sudan Shriners:
As most or all of you know the Grand Master of Masons in North Carolina, Most Worshipful Shaun Bradshaw announced that as of high twelve on Wednesday, March 18, 2020, that all Masonic gatherings cease until further notice.
The question has been asked, how does this affect our shrine functions? We received a letter via email this morning from the office of Shriners International with guidance on this matter. The recommendation is that in the best interest of the Shrine, our Members and the Masons within our jurisdiction to adopt any restrictions on activities provided by the Grand Master.
Therefore, to remain in compliance with the order of our Grand Master, any and all Sudan Shriners activities are hereby cancelled until further notice. I would highly recommend that if possible, that you postpone rather than an all-out cancellation.
If there are particular events or activities that you believe should be excluded from the scope of prohibited conduct, it is strongly suggested that a request for dispensation, along with excellent reasons supporting the request, be presented to me and I will forward it to the Grand Master for his consideration.
I know that you are with me in praying that this crisis soon gets behind us and we can all resume our normal lives.
Sincerely & fraternally yours,
Allen “Buddy” Brown
