Shriners - Helping Kids
Sudan Shrine Center recently held its 4th Annual Shrine Charity Ride to benefit its beloved philanthropy - Shriners Hospitals for Children. On behalf of our 6400+ members, Officers, staff and 600+ sponsored patients; we would like to take this opportunity to express our grateful appreciation to the area businesses and participants in our ride, for their contributions and support.
We were blessed with 171 registered motorcycles and 219 riders total. This was our largest turn out yet. Although it was hot, everyone enjoyed a great day of fellowship and camaraderie, along with cash & door prizes, and entertainment after the 175-mile trip. Our first 3 years netted $2000, $2200, $3300 respectively, with the 2008 donation to the Greenville, SC Shriners Hospital totaling $4320.
Additionally, we would like to recognize and thank Mr. Charlie Hall of the Sun Journal for the excellent coverage provided, which helped promote our annual event. We’d like to also acknowledge and thank the following businesses for their generous financial assistance and gifts:
James Briley CPA, East Carolina Bank, Fulcher Tire Sales & Service, Robinson & Stith Insurance, Riverside Chrysler, Morgan Printers, Thea’s Ideas, Chopper Toyz, Flounder’s Seafood & Smokehouse, Outback Steakhouse, Piggly Wiggly Supermarket #28, MJ’s Raw Bar & Grill, Glenn Collins, Bell’s Service Center, Pamlico County NAPA, Andy’s Cheesesteaks & Cheeseburgers, Trent Auto Parts Inc., Auto Zone, Harley Davidson of New Bern, Captain Ratty’s Seafood & Steakhouse, Palace City Wings, Pamlico County, Carteret County, Onslow County, Lenoir County and New Bern Shrine Clubs.
