Friday Night's Entertainment - Nov. 19th

Big Daddy Rhythm & the Heavyweights

It's All About a Good Time...

And you can bet that’s what you’ll have with Big Daddy Rhythm & The Heavyweights.  Everything they do on stage is directed toward one purpose…maximum entertainment!  They achieve that goal through a combination of excellent song selection, lots of audience participation, expert musicianship, and a genuine love for what they do.  These guys are obviously having a blast in their show and it is truly infectious.  Any audience will find it nearly impossible not to enjoy them enjoying themselves.

One of the first things you’ll notice at a Big Daddy Rhythm show is that there are a bunch of instruments on the stage for just six people.  On their stage, you’ll find drums, bass, guitars, keyboards, trumpet, trombone, saxophones, and harmonica.  All the members of the band sing and most of them play several instruments during the show.  Most of the members have music degrees or extensive formal training.

The band plays through a state-of-the-art PA system, which is run by an expert sound engineer.  Because of the quality of their equipment, BDR can go from the smallest private party to an outdoor festival without the slightest compromise in the sound…just right for any event, any venue.

Big Daddy Rhythm & the Heavyweights’ repertoire includes some of the most popular songs from a wide variety of genres.  This makes them an excellent choice for even the most diverse audience.  BDR covers classic soul, beach music, old rock & roll, blues, southern rock, ‘70s & ‘80s retro, and more.  They do all these styles with absolute authenticity…and the best part is that IT’S ALL LIVE!  Nothing is pre-recorded.  Everything you hear is being played by someone you see on the stage.

Although the band is relatively new, the amount of experience on their stage is staggering.  Members of BDR have performed with many of the legends in the music industry, either as an opening act or back-up band.  Those artists include:  Parliament, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Jerry Lee Lewis, Percy Sledge, The Crystals, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Cigar Store Indians, The Tokens, Starship, The Guess Who, Paul Revere & the Raiders, Chuck Jackson, Jerry Butler, Herman’s Hermits, Ben E. King, Clarence Carter, Maurice Williams & the Zodiacs, The Stylistics, The Orioles, The Coasters, The Platters, The Drifters, The Clovers, and MANY others.

The audience is often as big a part of the show as the band.  Their participation can come in the standard forms you might expect; dancing, clapping, and singing along.  But, there are often opportunities for people to come right out of the crowd onto the stage for their “15 minutes of fame”.  The band lives for this stuff!  Some of the most memorable moments on stage have been delivered courtesy of these “special guests”.

No matter when or where you have the opportunity to see Big Daddy Rhythm, don’t pass it up.  Each show brings something different, but it’s always fun, fresh, and entertaining.  For a good time, call Big Daddy Rhythm & the Heavyweights.

Saturday Night's Entertainment - Nov. 20

TOO MUCH SYLVIA has the desire to please and play something that everyone will enjoy. Their fun, contagious personalities will touch all. Whether it’s a low key dinner setting or an energetic 80’s party, the band easily adapts.  By NOT working from a “set list”, 2MS has the ability to “feel the mood”, pace the song selection and provoke audience interaction to reach a peak at the right moment.  The band understands how to “work” the events . . . .  whether it’s working with planners, wearing tuxedos, emceeing festivities or learning that special song . . . . Their experience and professionalism only adds to the ease of working with TOO MUCH SYLVIA.

TOO MUCH SYLVIA features THREE lead vocalists that are obviously having fun – Eddy with his crystal clear voice to Steve’s funky, soul sound and Rick’s scratchy rock & roll, pretty much have the vocal styles covered.  Their vocal blend and harmonies are, really . . . a major part of the 2MS sound.  Combine all the above, with their tight, tasteful musical arrangements and Drummer Don’s rhythms, makes the groove appealing to dancers at a comfortable sound level for everyone.
