Sudan Motor Escort was chartered in 1971 as a Uniform Unit with 14 members riding 1972 Harley Davidson motorcycles. Most members only rode them to practice and parades.
These Harleys were updated with 1975 Harleys. The Unit was composed of mainly charter members who remained active until 1983 then recruited and sold their motorcycles to new members who found these old motors hard to maintain and insure. Nine new 1993 Harleys were ordered and placed into service by September 1992.
Harley-Davidson allows Shrine & Police Units to order new motors every two years at reduced fleet price. Sudan Motor Escort ordered 13 new Harley Ultra Classics and received them by February 1995. The 125th Anniversary Shrine Edition were ordered and placed into service by 1997 by 16 members.
In 2000 we ordered new Harley Ultra Classics which were replaced by our present 2003 100th Anniversary motorcycle with 14 members. |
