Sudan Shrine Center Suffers Damage From Irene
Sudan Shriners, like many others faced some challenges after Hurricane Irene plodded through Carteret
and adjoining counties August 26-27. Damage was incurred throughout the entire "Down East" area including
New Bern in Craven County home of Sudan Shriners.
The Sudan offices and auditorium were not spared due to the close proximity to the storm. The extent of damages is being assessed and repairs made accordingly. Much of the damage was caused by water from both roof infiltration and storm surge flooding.
According to Illustrious Sir Bruce Bulluck, everthing should be cleaned and repaired well enough so that this Saturday's, September 10th, Cold Sands Ceremonial is minimally impacted.

Storm surge from Irene caused this Sudan Chef Crew trailer to float out into the parking lot from its storage spot.

September 30 due to effects of Hurricane Irene on the area.
It's Time!
With a busy fall fast approaching and the Fall Ceremonial's November 18-19 date penciled in on calendars or "enty'ed" on Ipad, Ipods, and Blackberry's for reminders, it's time to get serious about getting the word out about the big $10,000 Giveaway.
Each Sudan Shriner was sent a sheet of 6 tickets earlier this year with a note attached with the details. A $5.00 ticket for a chance to win $10,000 in November and helping to support the Sudan fraternity at the same time! What an opportunity to support Sudan Shriners and possibly get rewarded with a $10,000 windfall in the process. In addition individuals, clubs, and units can qualify for the "Top Sales Awards" incentive of $250 each respectively with qualifying sales of 100+ tickets per individual, club, or unit.. The deadline to receive sales credit for prize money is November 8, 2011.
We all are familiar with the real world issues that affect us all regarding budgets and Sudan is no exception. Not just another raffle, the yearly fundraiser for Sudan is a major component of our operating budget and without the income from the sale of tickets, at some point in the future, the temple budgets may have to be adjusted downward or Sudan's due's will have to be increased. This fundraiser is not an “extra” for our temple, it is a major part of Sudan's operational revenue.
Keep in mind, this $10,000 giveaway is not limited to Shriners only, anyone can buy a ticket. $5 each or the sheet of 6 tickets for $25. If you have not bought all 6 mailed tickets yourself, sell the balance to friends and family. What better way to 'gift' a family member or co-worker than with a chance to win $10,000! Can't find your tickets or need extra tickets, please contact the office at 252-637-5197, they will be mailed out promptly. Please buy or sell your tickets as soon as possible and return your stubs with donations to Sudan's office.
Nobles, you are a part of Sudan, and it’s only through your support and active participation that our great temple can continue to be in the forefront supporting the “World’s Greatest Philanthropy” – and Fraternity.
The approaching 'End of Summer' and 'back-to-school time' for parents, warrants an opportunity to celebrate the end of a hot dry summer and Sudan Shriners do it best with a dinner or a party.
Any excuse for fun, food, and fellowship will do! Be sure to support these upcoming events
throughout Sudanland.
