Potentate 2010

 

 

On Saturday, January 23rd, 2010, at Sudan Shrine temple in New Bern, NC.  Noble Michael G. “Mike” Farrell was elected Potentate (President/CEO) for the year of 2010.  Noble Farrell, was born in Cumberland County, Fayetteville, NC on December 10, 1940.  He graduated from Pine Forest Sr. High School in 1959 and attended Maxton College and Fayetteville Tech, earning his business major.

 

Mike met Karen Rachelle Hill of Effie, Minnesota in his senior year of high school.  They began dating and were married December 10, 1960.  They are proud parents of three children, Michael Gene Farrell, Jr., Shelley Renee’ Cawood and Jeffrey Todd Farrell, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

 

In 1970, he petitioned Creasy Proctor Lodge #679, Fayetteville, NC for membership and later that year was raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason.  Also in 1970, Mike sought and gained membership in York Rite, becoming a 32 degree York Rite mason.  In 1985, Mike was created in Sudan Shriners and also holds membership in New Bern Court No. 145 Royal Order of Jesters and is a member of Hillbilly Clan #58.  In 2002, Illustrious Sir Stuart Lewis of Fayetteville, NC appointed Mike as the Outer Guard.

 

In 2005, Mike was presented the “Shriner of the Year” award from the Cumberland County Shrine Club.

 

Noble Farrell spent 45 years of his professional life in masonry working with architects, general contractors, residential designers and home builders.

 

As Sudan’s Potentate for the year 2010, Mike will be responsible for overseeing the fraternal and charitable affairs of the entire organization, which encompasses

6000+ members, 41 Shrine Clubs and 48 parade units.  Sudan’s jurisdictional territory covers approximately 42 counties, from I-95 East to the Virginia and South Carolina borders.

 

Three of Potentate Farrell’s goals are to increase shrine membership, fundraising activities for both Sudan Shriners and Shriners Hospitals for Children and to increase public awareness of the shrines overall mission.
